“Michael did not blame God for his health dilemma. Rather, at the age of 16, Michael surrendered his life to Jesus Christ, was immersed into Christ, and lived faithfully for Him until he was called into eternity on June 17, 2008. Throughout those years, Michael had been an inspiration and a blessing to a great number of people, challenging most of those he influenced through his faith in Christ and his contagious spirit of joy and hope.
Just as all others who are struggling with this great health-crippling disease, it was no breeze for Michael. He had bad days and weeks, and, although it was rare, he cried when he felt his health burden pressing down on him…
Continue ReadingMichael Hedrick worked for Hersh Business Services for seven years. He had an inspiring zest for life. On June 17, 2008, he passed away at age thirty-five. Although Michael was born with Cystic Fibrosis, he was not one to complain. His deep, spiritual faith radiated a contagious spirit of joy and hope. Although activities became limited as his illness progressed, Michael was a regular guy who loved the Miami Dolphins, collected sports cards and coins, and was a graduate of Valley College of Technology.
Michael had a positive impact on many people, especially those he worked with. Even in the worst of times, he displayed a heroic work ethic and consistently reminded us to keep things in perspective. He was a friend, mentor, and soft-spoken leader who often advised us to “relax,” “slow down,” and not miss out on life. We are better people for having known him.
Cystic Fibrosis is a lifelong, hereditary disease that causes thick, sticky mucus to form in the lungs, pancreas and other organs. In the lungs, this mucus blocks the airways, causing lung damage and making it hard to breathe. In the pancreas, it clogs the pathways leading to the digestive system. More than 30,000 Americans have CF, and there are an estimated 1,000 new cases diagnosed each year. The life expectancy for a CF patient is 37.5 years …there is no cure.
